TRANSITINALLY OBDURATE
Baudelaire, in his book 'The Painter of Modern Life' (1863), defines the beauty of modernity as a constant movement between "the eternal and immoveable" and "the transient, the fleeting, the contingent". He also explains how certain memories, such as attachment to sounds or nostalgia with objects, create another layer to the artistic experience. This gives each viewer an individual journey as the old and the new combine to create what Baudelaire describes as "self-doubling" triggering a more powerful creative response.

To remain vital, culture must be renewed in the minds of the members of every generation.
